The project will comprise a 65 MW solar park and a 92 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) across approximately 96 hectares. Once operational, it will be among the most advanced renewable energy facilities of its kind in Latvia. The power generated by solar energy is used by the DC load of the base station computer room, and the insufficient power is supplemented by energy storage. Summary: This article explores how integrating photovoltaic (PV) systems with energy storage can revolutionize power supply for communication base stations. Why. Deep in the vast desert interior, a solar-powered communication base station operates continuously, delivering stable signals that connect nomadic communities and remote work sites to the outside world— while its fuel bill has permanently dropped to zero. This is not an isolated pilot project. Highjoule's site energy solution is designed to deliver stable and reliable power for telecom base stations in off-grid or weak-grid areas.
