Rechargeable proton-exchange membrane batteries that employ organic chemical hydrides as hydrogen-storage media have the potential to serve as next-generation power sources; however, significant challenges remain regarding the improve-ment of the reversible hydrogen-storage capacity. A ketone/alcohol - based hydrogen - storable polymer (HSP) has been reported, and an 'all - polymer type' rechargeable PEMFC system using HSP is proposed. The Ir catalyst was used as received. Innovations in the affordability and durability of fuel cell catalysts have facilitated the large-scale commercialization of clean electric power.
