In our latest Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO), we expect that U. renewable capacity additions—especially solar—will continue to drive the growth of U. The Global Solar Power Tracker is composed of worldwide facility-level data on utility-scale (1 MW+) solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal facilities, as well as country-aggregated distributed (<1 MW) solar PV data. The utility-scale data covers all operating solar farm phases with capacities. Solar power is poised to take the main stage in the coming decades, fundamentally changing how we produce and use energy in ways both big and small. By 2050, the endless potential of the sun will have reshaped energy systems around the world. Other renewables include geothermal, waste biomass, wood biomass, and pumped storage hydropower.
